Harnessing the Power of Solar Energy
In 2024, Agrigear took a bold step towards sustainability by installing 466 solar panels on our facility’s roof, in partnership with Pinergy Solar, one of Ireland’s leading solar energy providers. This 200 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system generates approximately 192,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, powering 50% of our operations. By switching to solar, we’ve significantly reduced our reliance on fossil fuel-based grid electricity, cutting our energy costs and environmental impact.
This initiative prevents an estimated 76.8 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year—the equivalent of planting 1,200 trees. This investment not only supports our operational efficiency but also aligns with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, which aims for 5 GW of solar capacity by 2025. At Agrigear, we’re proud to contribute to this national goal, setting an example for sustainable practices in the agricultural sector.
Recycling Waste Tyres for a Cleaner Planet
Sustainability at Agrigear extends beyond energy. We’re committed to responsible waste management, particularly with tyres, a core part of our business. Every waste tyre from our operations is recycled through partnerships with specialised waste tyre recycling companies. These tyres are processed into new materials, such as rubber granules for playground surfaces or fuel for energy-efficient industries, diverting thousands of kilograms from landfills annually.
This program reflects our dedication to a circular economy, where waste is minimised and resources are reused. By ensuring no tyre goes to waste, we reduce environmental pollution and support sustainable practices across our industry. Our recycling efforts complement our solar initiative, creating a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.

As a proud distributor of BKT tyres, we align with Balkrishna Industries Limited, a global leader in off-highway tyres with a strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework. BKT has reduced its non-renewable electricity consumption by 26% and increased renewable energy use by 6%, alongside implementing efficient waste management practices. Their commitment to sustainability enhances the value of the tyres we supply, ensuring our customers receive high-quality, eco-conscious products.

By offering BKT tyres, we provide farmers and businesses with durable, environmentally responsible solutions that support both performance and the planet. Supporting Our Community: Social Sustainability in Action

In October 2024, we hosted a fundraiser for the Bailieboro Cancer Comfort Fund, bringing our team and community together to support cancer patients and their families. We also organised an in-house fundraiser for Cavan Autism Parents Support, a charity group that seeks to empower families and individuals affected by autism through resources and advocacy.
